Lampard frustrated over new contract
Lampard who scored four goals in last nights thumping victory over bottom club Derby is out of contract in 2009. He has also been strongly rumoured with moves away from the club, with Barcelona and Real Madrid both keeping tabs on his contract situation. However, Chelsea have always made it clear that they are keen to keep hold of Lampard as they see him as a key player and one of their main star players. Lampard has now made it clear that he is far from happy with the club holding out until the summer to talk to him about a new contract, and insists he wants it sorting out before then. Lampard told the press that Chelsea have told him they will offer him a contract soon, but haven’t actually done so yet. Lampard went on to say that he only wants to concentrate on football and forget about the contract talks, but admits it is hard to get on with football while there is uncertainty about his future. Lampard went on to say that he is keen to stay at Chelsea and that he loves to play for the club and wears the shirt with pride, but doesn’t want anything to be kept secret from him regarding his contract. He says he tries to forget about the new deal while playing football but it races through his mind when he’s not playing. After Lampard scored four goals in Chelsea’s 6-1 thrashing of Derby, Chelsea will no doubt realize that the longer they leave the contract talks the more chance there is of other clubs trying to persuade him to join them.
