Newcastle United manager Joe Kinnear is already thinking about his return to the training ground according to assistant Chris Hughton.

 

Kinnear was taken ill on Saturday morning before the Magpies 3-2 win over West Brom and high blood pressure coupled with his previous ill health meant hospitalisation for the former Wimbledon boss. However, Kinnear was ’typically bullish’ and wondering what the fuss was about in latest reports. He continued to take updates throughout the 90 minutes and must have been encouraged by his teams determination to hang on what was ultimately a slender win.

The 62 year-old suffered a heart attack almost ten years ago to the day and whilst tests have given the all clear, Monday is the earliest likely opportunity for him to travel back up to the North East. He is expected to be back fully in charge for the trip to Goodison Park. Kinnear is currently under contract at St James’ Park until the end of the season following the departure of Kevin Keegan.
