Kinnear Chases Danish BoostNewcastle United manager Joe Kinnear is hoping to secure the services of Danish international and former Rangers winger Peter Lovenkrands. ![]() The 28 year-old, who spent 6 years north of the border with the Glasgow team is currently out of contract after being released by German club Schalke. He has been on Tyneside for a week on a trial basis and has impressed Kinnear. Kinnear is also looking to strengthen his squad through the loan acquisitions of Albin Ebondo, the Toulouse full-back, and Cameroon international Stephane Mbia from Rennes. No doubt Kinnear would like to arrange options to make both deals permanent at the end of the season. Meanwhile, another Cameroon international Geremi could well be heading out of St James’ Park after the north east club accepted a £1.5M offer from Besiktas. The 30 year-old former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Middlesbrough midfielder has failed to make the expected impact and is now considered surplus to requirements.
