Sami Khedira echoed coach Joachim Loew’s comments when he said that the Germany side has much more to come, even after their 4-0 demolition of Australia.

 

With their next match against Serbia on the horizon, the midfield player called on his colleagues to equal their opening game performance. “We need to take the momentum from the game against Australia into this match” he said.

Team-mate Lukas Podolski has backed coach Low hoping that he will have his contract extended beyond the end of the summer. Low took over from Jurgen Klinsmann four years ago has impressed with his team’s performance. Podolski, who was judged to be the best young player in the World Cup of 2006, said “Now is the time to talk about it, but all I can say is that both the team and myself would like to keep working with him.”
