Keita Death Threats Disrupt Super Eagles Preparation
Nigeria’s team spokesman Peterside Idah dramatically claimed that Super Eagles midfielder Sani Keita has received “more than a thousand” death threats from his native country after his sending-off against Greece in the World Cup last Thursday.
Idah told the Reuters news agency: “We are taking these threats very seriously, because this is a young man who is putting his best at the service of his country and football.” Keita is 24.
“We have spoken to the Nigeria government to inform them and written to FIFA to notify them,” Idah added. “The team is urging the authorities in Nigeria to take measures to protect him.”
