Roy Keane is confident that key striker Kenwyne Jones should be available to play for Sunderland within a few weeks. The 23 year old seriously injured his knee in an international friendly match for Trinidad and Togo against England in June. He has not figured since then.

However, Keane feels that the forward is now close to a return. He said “He's working hard to get back and is showing a great attitude in the gym…Hopefully it will now be a matter of weeks”.

There were initial fears that Jones would be unavailable for much longer than the four months that he has missed. But following a rapid improvement in his condition, Keane is looking forward to his return. He said “We've missed Kenwyne's physical presence.”

In his and the club’s first season in the Premier League last year, Jones became an integral part of Sunderland’s forward line. He scored seven goals in 33 appearances.
