Following his arrival he has only managed to score four goals and this poor return has often seen him omitted from the Liverpool first team, despite the absence of Fernando Torres. Keane said “I've only been here a few months but there's nothing I can do about speculation… If people want to create something that's not there it's up to them but there's no question in my mind, I will be a Liverpool player for a long time. Keane signed for Liverpool for an eventual £20.3 Million fee in July.
