The Brazilian told France Football; “I am closer to the end of my career than the beginning, I must prepare well and admit that things will soon be finished.
We have to accept that time passes and that on the day I have to leave, I do it in the manner of Grégory Coupet , not do it with my head bowed.”
Juninho joined the French champions in 2001, before the club had ever one the French Ligue 1 in their history. Since then Juninho and Lyon have won the title on 7 consecutive occasions, whilst the Brazilian has appeared over 250 times for the club, scoring 92 goals to date.
A number of European clubs are likely to be alerted by the news, especially after Juninho mentioned ex-team mate Gregory Coupet, who left Lyon to join Atletico Madrid in the summer.
Juninho also revealed that he believes Lyon still have the quality to retain the Ligue 1 title this year, despite French media suggesting the gap between the French champions and other Ligue 1 clubs in shrinking and that the likes of Marseille, Bordeaux and Toulouse finally have the quality to really challenge for the title this year.
Juninho told France Football; “We are top of Ligue 1 and still in the race for the Champions League. The first objective is to qualifying in the Champions League. Our season can be very successful.”
