The day has finally arrived when judgement will be passed on Sheffield United in their battle to win back their place in the English Premier League. Sheffield United mounted a legal challenge against their ruling body and the decision not to dock West Ham league points over the controversy with Carlos Tevez. The decision saw the Premiership survival of West Ham whilst Sheffield United slipped and were relegated to the championship.

The affair has been long drawn out but the 3 man arbitration panel are set to announce their verdict later today. The panel cannot deduct points from West Ham but they do have the power to convene a new disciplinary panel to look at the case.

The Premier League have insisted throughout that the matter was handled within the boundaries of the rule book. However, the decision has since been challenged by United who disagree with West Ham’s punishment.
