Jose Rules In ItalyInter Milan claimed the Serie A title thanks to a single Diego Milito goal at Siena. Jose Mourinho’s side finished two points ahead of closest rivals AS Roma with local rivals AC a distant 3rd. This completed the domestic double for Milan as they had previously defeated Roma 1-0 in the Coppa Italia final. With the UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich, the rumoured departure of Mourinho could be as he achieves legendary status at the San Siro. Inter’s home form was key to their success with 15 wins and four draws, they remained undefeated and their superior goal difference was also a tremendous advantage going into the final weeks of the campaign. Roma and AC Milan both qualify for the UEFA Champions League as the top three continued their dominance of the Italian domestic scene. Samporia’s 1-0 home win against Napoli was enough to secure them a UEFA Champions League qualifying berth narrowly edging out Palermo who finished with an injury time win at Atalanta. Both Napoli and Palermo grabbed the Europa League places whilst Atlanta will join Siena and Livorno in Serie B next season. Biggest surprise of the Serie A campaign was Juventus who finished seventh, outside the European qualifying places.
