Sevilla star Jesus Navas caught the attention with a stunning goal in an otherwise dull World Cup warm-up match as Spain edged out fellow qualifiers South Korea.

In an experimental line up from Spanish boss Vicente del Bosque, the reigning European champions struggled to break down the resilient Asian side in Austria until winger Navas stepped up just four minutes from time with an unstoppable drive – his first goal for his country - that flew into the top corner from 25 yards.

 

It was a far from convincing team performance though, but at least the game gave Cesc Fabregas his first run-out since breaking his leg against Barcelona – the team he wants to join from Arsenal – in the Champions League last season.

The current Gunners captain struck the bar in the first half as he looked to rebuild match fitness ahead of his side’s World Cup opener with Switzerland.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina was also handed a start before being replaced by Barcelona’s Victor Valdes.
