Japan’s 27 year-old defender Yasuyuki Konno is a major doubt for their opening match with Cameroon following a knee injury sustained in a tackle with Ivory Coast’s Emmanuel Eboue during their World Cup warm up clash.

 

The ligament injury could take a fortnight to clear up which would rule the FC Tokyo player out of the first match. “He (Konno) was walking after the game and he is walking normally now” said coach Takeshi Okada. However, should he decide to replace the player, he has until the eve of the opening match in Johannesburg on 14^th June.
