Iniesta Concern For Spaniards

Spain playmaker Andres Iniesta has a minor thigh injury and is doubtful for their World Cup opener with Switzerland.

The Barcelona star was taken off in the 39th minute of Spain's impressive 6-0 friendly win over Poland.

Iniesta’s latest problem will cause some concern for boss Vicente del Bosque, considering the player is central to their plans and missed much of the end of the La Liga season because of a thigh injury.

And he showed glimpses of what he can do against the Poles, setting up new Barca teammate David Villa for the first goal then supplying David Silva to score the second.

On the plus side, Fernando Torres made his comeback from his injury and it didn’t take long for the Liverpool striker to get amongst the goals, while his former Anfield teammate Xabi Alonso and Cesc Fabregas of Arsenal were also on target.

Spanish officials were keen to take Iniesta off the pitch as soon as they became aware of his discomfort and del Bosque will more than likely rest him for the Swiss clash to ensure he fully recovers for the rest of the group stages.
