This match will be played in the biggest stadium amongst all the hosts in 2007 Asian Cup. Formerly seats 100,000, Gelora Bung Karno stadium was renovated and now hosts 88,000 seats which will be filled with blazing red and white colors of Indonesian supporters. Although Indonesia is considered to be in the same standard of Malaysia, the team has quite a strong chance to qualify to the next round. Group D which pools Indonesia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and South Korea is considered easier than Group C which hosts Malaysia, China, Uzbekistan and Iran.

Bahrain displayed a spectacular performance in 2004 Asian Cup where they flattened Indonesia 3 – 1 in a controversial match and accompanied China to the next round, sidestepping group’s favorite Qatar. Bahrain squad depends a lot on its former 2004 Asian Cup most valuable player, A’ala Hubail. Bahrain performance went downhill after its phenomenal advance in Asian Cup 2004. Bahrain has been reported to display not so well played performance in their latest friendly matches. Despite of this fact, Bahrain is still considered a lot of stronger than Indonesia.

Indonesia itself shoulders a hope from its supporters to advance into the next round. Literally, Indonesia has always showed superb performance in the first match of Asian Cup. In the 2000 Asian Cup, Indonesia held a draw with Kuwait overturning many predictions. Indonesia best moment in Asian Cup was the 2004 Asian Cup where the team spectacularly beat Qatar 2-1. Indonesia showed a great development on its latest friendly match. The team utilizes an attacking formation by utilizing its best striker, Bambang Pamungkas, its fast winger, Budi Sudarsono and its wiggly winger, Elie Aiboy. The problem which Indonesia has is its weakness in defense as Indonesia does not have a good goalkeeper.

Both Bahrain and Indonesia need to win this match if they want to continue to the next round since matches against South Korea and Saudi are believed to be a lot of harder. Indonesia v Bahrain will take place on July 10th and will be available inside our member’s area.
