Honduras Clings To Faint Hope

Honduras assistant coach Alexis Mendoza believes his side still have a chance of reaching the knockout stages of the World Cup despite being pointless going into tonight’s daunting clash with Spain.

The Hondurans were outplayed for long spells by Chile in their opening game and face the task of taming a wounded Spanish outfit after they lost to Switzerland.

Mendoza said: “We did have chances against Chile. We are going to get better, so we have a chance of qualifying for the next round.”

The outsiders hope to have midfielder Julio Cesar de Leon available after a hamstring injury.
