Heskey Enjoying His Time With The Latics

Emile Heskey has been talking about how much he is currently enjoying playing for Wigan Athletic under Steve Bruce. The 30 year old forward is currently in the middle of a renaissance in his career, after he earned a recall to the England team and participated in the recent 4-1 victory over Croatia in the World Cup Qualifiers.

Since his departure from Liverpool several years ago, Heskey has gradually slipped from prominence. Transfers to Birmingham City and then Wigan have seen him often not performing and also not scoring. However, since the start of the season his performances for Steve Bruce have improved and it seems that Fabio Capello has taken note. His selection over Peter Crouch for England has surprised many.

Heskey, it seems has been impressed with the new England Manager also. “Things are going well with England…Capello has impressed me, he's been really good”.

Despite the renewed interest in him, Heskey however has been quick to express his desire to stay at Wigan beyond the end of his current contract at the end of this season.

He said “There's been speculation about my future… I'm happy here and you get the best out of yourself when you are happy…These are good times to be at Wigan. We are moving forward”.

Heskey has currently played for England 48 times, scoring 5 goals.
