Henry Wants A Return To His Natural Position
Barcelona striker Thierry Henry is worried that being played out of his normal striker’s role for Barcelona may affect his performance for France in this summer’s Euro 2008 tournament. Henry has spent most of his first season at Barcelona playing as a left winger rather than a striker. Henry is not familiar with playing on the left wing, but will carry on playing in that position should he be asked to by boss Frank Rijkaard. Henry is worried that he might not be able to adjust back to playing as a striker for France in the summer as he has rarely played up front this season. Henry feels that he has lost his positional sense in front of goal and feels ‘lost’ playing in a forwards role. He hopes that he gets the chance to play as a striker when France warm up for the Euro 2008 tournament so he can get back into the swing of playing as a striker. While Henry was at Arsenal he was hitting 20+ goals a season playing as an out and out striker, but since moving to Barcelona he has netted just seven goals. Henry thinks it will be impossible to get as many goals for Barcelona as he got at Arsenal if he carries on playing on the wing. Tags: Thierry Henry, Barcelona, Euro 2008 Posted: |
