West Ham United have reportedly thrown their hat into the ring for the race to sign Sporting Lisbon’s sought-after midfielder Joao Moutinho.

 

The 21-year old has previously been linked with a move to Goodison Park and was, evidently, top of David Moyes’ summer shopping list. But Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola is hot on the heels of the player and could be in line to offer up to £8M to land one of the most exciting prospects in Europe.

Another player linked with a move to Upton Park comes from closer to home. Fulham’s Danny Murphy could be about to make the move across the capital with the lure of a 3 year contract and possible European competition sure to play a major part in the former Liverpool and England man’s thinking.

Meanwhile, the Carlos Tevez continues to rumble on with journeyman striker Geoff Horsfield said to be amongst a group of up to 20 current and former Sheffield United players who are considering legal action against the Hammers following the recent out-of-court settlement in respect of the Tevez and Macherano transfers and West Ham’s ultimate survival at the Blades expense. The claims are believed to be for earnings, including bonuses, that were denied the players due to their relegation.
