Gunners Prepare For AGMArsenal’s AGM is set to take place at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday. The club has been surrounded by speculation regarding private takeovers. Arsenal are flying high so far this season recording impressive form on both domestic and European fronts.
The minority shareholders at the club will get a chance to quiz the board about recent speculation. It promises to be a lively meeting after recently publishing impressive financial results to match the performances on the pitch.
The Arsenal board are maintaining their stance that the club is not for sale at any price. They claim that the club is financially sound and successful and as a result has no need for any alternative investment. Both significant shareholders involved in the media speculation will be represented at the meeting rather than attending in person. American Stan Kroenke has been ruled out of the runnings for any takeover but Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov is still in the hunt and looking to acquire an increased stake in the club. Usmanov’s investment company is now the second largest shareholder at the club with 23% of the allotted capital.
Manager Arsene Wenger will also be in attendance at the meeting and is scheduled to give his own talk. The French coach as always has not let off the pitch rumors, effect the running of the team. Arsenal have chalked up a superb tally of 10 straight wins despite the summer departure of talisman Thierry Henry. The new look Arsenal side is fresh and entertaining and continues to impress in front of sell out crowds at the new 60,000 seater Emirates Stadium.
