South America is represented by two time champions Argentina. The Albicelestes are no doubt a talented side, but have failed to make it past the quarterfinal stage in their last four attempts. Penalties proved to be their undoing at the last tournament in Germany. Argentina are coached by the legendary Diego Maradona, whose decisions have already invited plenty of flak from the viewing public. Maradona has chosen not to select Javier Zanetti and Esteban Cambiasso despite the duo having a fine season with Italian giants Internazionale.

From Africa, we have continental powerhouses Nigeria.  The Super Eagles were in the same group as Argentina at the 1994 and 2002 World Cups too. With players like Yakubu, Obafemi Martins, veteran Kanu, John Obi Mikel and Dickson Etuhu in their ranks, the Super Eagles can beat the best on their day. This is new coach Lars Lagerback’s first major test as Nigeria boss.

Representing Europe are Greece, whose economic problems have been dominating newspaper headlines in the past six months. A triumph similar to the one King Otto orchestrated in Portugal six years ago will certainly bring relief to this beleaguered country.

And finally, to complete the group, we have South Korea, who impressed one and all with their fourth placed finish eight years ago. Korea were unbeaten in Asian qualification for the 2010 World Cup and have produced some impressive results in recent friendlies, comfortably beating the likes of Ivory Coast, Japan and Australia.
