Greece v Hungary
Greece coach Otto Rehaggel is taking no chances although his team appears to have made it through to the Euro 2008 finals with 11 points in 5 matches. Nikolaos Spiropoulos, the 23-year-old left back gets a chance to show his wares in the upcoming clash against Hungary.
Greece are behind Group C leaders Turkey by just one point and a victory against Hungary will almost certainly book their ticket to Austria-Switzerland next year. Captain Angelos Basinas had saved the blushed last time around when he had scored the only goal to defeat Malta. The win was a much needed boost for the Greeks following their 1-4 loss to Turkey at home.
This time around they have no such worries and are quietly confident of beating Hungary. The addition of Spiropoulos strengthens their defence and Rehaggel will look to marshal it as tightly as possible. Spiropoulos was delighted to get a national call-up. "It's an honour for any footballer to have the opportunity to play for the national team. I will work as hard as I can to help the national team," he said.
Meanwhile Hungary look down and out sitting at the fifth spot with just 6 points in their last five matches. The 2-0 win against Moldova at home kept their hopes alive, but unless they can conjure up a miracle their chances of making it through are slim indeed.
Hungary coach Peter Várhidi has included newcomers Újpest FC goalkeeper Szabolcs Balajcza and Debreceni VSC midfielder Balázs Dzsudzsák in his 26-man squad. He is hoping his team will challenge the Greeks otherwise they might as well pack their bags early. You can watch Greece v Hungary live online through your desktop or laptop.
