Greece Two Game Home BanGreece are destined to play their Euro 2008 qualifier in June outside of Athens after receiving a 2 match home ban from UEFA. The decision follows events during the Greece international teams 4-1 defeat to Turkey back on March 24th. In addition to the ban the ruling body have been fined £41,500. Fireworks and missiles were thrown during the game in addition to the presence of racist banners in the crowd. UEFA have taken a hard stance on the behavior of Greek fans and have urged the EPO ruling body to seek out and ban extremists from attending games. With crucial matches ahead this is not good news for the defending European champions. Tags: Greece, Euro 2008 qualifier, Turkey, UEFA, European Champions Posted: |
