Good Week For Latics

Wigan Athletic ended a good week for them with a 2-0 win at Molineux with new signing Gary Galdwell starting.

The victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers was sealed thanks to goals from summer signing James McCarthy, making his first Premier League start, and Charles N’Zogbia. Boss Roberto Martinez was delighted at the win, calling it a ‘complete performance’. The only black spot on the day was the dismissal of Hendry Thomas who will now face a suspension following the red issued by ref Howard Webb. Defender Caldwell made a decent start to his Premier League career but has spoken of his disappointment at the way his spell at Celtic finished.

The 27 year-old was keen to stay in Glasgow but reckons the board at the club went against the wishes of manager Tony Mowbray resulting in him being sold six months before his contract was due to end. "You have to ask Peter (Lawwell) and Dermot (Desmond) if they underestimated me as a footballer," said Caldwell. "They judged me and their judgment was a little bit off from mine. I have no regrets. I had three and a half years there and they were great for me - hopefully I was good for them. But the boss had one opinion and the club had a different one. I think the club won in the end."
