Goal Shy Attackers No Problem For CroatiaIvica Olić has stated that Croatia 3-2 win against the English last November at Wembley is now confined to the annals of history and he and the rest of his team are now just concentrating on their opening Group B game on Sunday against Austria. The scorer of Croatia’s second goal, while also putting in a man of the match performance during that game against England, Olić knows the team must concentrate on taking all the points against the Austrians, especially as the Germans lay in wait on June 12th.
A great piece of skill by Eduardo da Silva set up Olić’ goal that night at Wembley, yet conversely it’s the Brazilian-born attacker’s absence due to a horrific leg-break that has afforded Olić his place in the team next to Mladen Petrić. But this is also a topic of debate among the people of Croatia especially as not one of Croatia's attackers has scored a goal since the England victory. But Olić is sure that he and his team mates can provide the ammunition in Euro 2008.
And he is definitely not worrying about the lack of goals; indeed Olić is looking forward to the opportunity to help prove that Croatia can be considered genuine contenders for the trophy. He said that the game against Austria will demonstrate how far the Croatian’s have progressed. He went on to say that all five strikers in the squad are working exceptionally hard and are improving in fitness and finesse on a daily basis. Tags: Croatia, Euro 2008 Posted: |
