Glazers Claim Debt Is Manageable

The owners of Manchester United – the Glazer family have strongly denied that the debts of Premiership Champions Manchester United are spiraling out of control. A report has claimed that due to interest rate rises the loan payments have increased by a whopping £28 million for 2007. The Manchester United Supporters Trust also claim that money acquired through new sponsorship deals and increased TV revenue is being used to pay the huge debt.

The Glazer family took over the club in 2005 for £790 million. Since that time they have not restricted Sir Alex Ferguson as he seeks to sign the best in footballing talent. United spent heavily bringing in a number of key players over the summer but have suffered a bad start to the new season. To fund rising wages fans have been hit with a 14% rise in ticket prices at the start of the season but the Glazer family maintain that the clubs finances are healthy.

Reports have emerged over recent weeks of potential buyers for United based in China and Dubai but the Glazers have stressed that they have no interest in selling and are completely committed to the club.
