Liverpool skipper and inspiration Steven Gerrard could just be the best player in the world……..and that comes from none other than Zinedine Zidane.

 

The former French star, world cup winner and three-times World Player of the Year acknowledged that flair usually wins more votes and that the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi attract more plaudits but reckons that Gerrard can offer so much more."He has great passing ability, can tackle and scores goals, but most importantly he gives the players around him confidence and belief. You can't learn that – players like him are just born with that presence."

Despite dropping points against struggling teams such as Stoke and a recent defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough, the Reds still harbour title ambitions. Keeper Pepe Reina says that despite the inability of the Anfield outfit to find true consistency, the dream of bring back the English league title to the Kop for the first time in almost two decades still burns deep in the hearts of Rafa Benitez’s squad. “After 19 years, the people feel like we have to go for the league rather than the Champions League,” he said. “We are Liverpool and Liverpool is known everywhere because of the fight and the spirit. We never give up.”
