Steven Gerrard has confirmed he will be fit for the midweek game against Russia. The crucial Euro 2008 qualifier at Wembley Stadium will take place on Wednesday night.

Gerrard played 70 minutes of the England - Israel game after being declared fit. He played without painkilling injections for his broken toe but was replaced late on due to cramp. Boss Steve McClaren may well be suffering selection issues as Lampard may also return for the midweek match. Up front Peter Crouch returns from suspension meaning a choice will have to be made between Crouch and Heskey.
