Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has concerns over whether skipper Steven Gerrard will be fit to play in Tuesday’s Champions League semi final against Chelsea.

27 year old midfielder Gerrard missed Saturday’s 2-0 victory against Fulham with a neck injury and it is unsure whether he will be available for Tuesday’s crucial match.

Benitez said that Gerrard is a doubt, but is working hard with the physios.

Liverpool also have concerns over several other key players. Sami Hyypia and Javier Mascherano both injured themselves during the 2-0 win over Fulham and will face fitness tests before the game on Tuesday.

However, Benitez is confident that Hyypia will be fit in time. Benitez said that he took Hyypia off to prevent him from injuring himself more.

He is also confident that Mascherano, who took knocks in three places, should be fit to play as well.

Liverpool management and fans alike will be hoping that Gerrard is fit to play, while Chelsea will be more than happy if he were forced to sit out the game.
