German Injury ConcernsAhead of their crucial clash with England on Sunday, Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is struggling to recover from a thigh injury he sustained against Ghana. The 25 year-old Bayern Munich man has played a major part in Germany’s progress so far but coach Joachim Low may need to look into his squad with doubts over the fitness of Jerome Boateng and Mesut Ozil also lingering. Although Ozil’s twisted ankle should not rule him out, Germany’s run of injuries prior to the tournament will leave Low in doubt as to who he will be able to name in his starting line up until the very last minute. Wayne Rooney will not be underestimated despite not yet finding his World Cup feet, according to Arne Friedrich. The German centre half said “He might have been a bit off-form here, but he is a player who can come into his own very quickly. We will be on our guard and we know if he gets a half chance, he will take it.” Tags: Germany, Bastian Schweinsteiger, World Cup Posted: |
