Fulham Draw On

Fulham continue to vie for the title of EPL draw specialists, with shares of the spoils at home to Aston Villa and away at Newcastle surrounding a single-goal defeat at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, speculation over the future of Fulham’s goalkeeping position is back in the news.

Brede Hangeland’s equaliser with the last header of the game gave Fulham a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

The Cottagers also suffered an injury blow as Mexican international defender Carlos Salcido ruptured ankle ligaments in a tackle with Villa’s Ashley Young.

Fulham boss Mark Hughes said: “It’s disappointing because Carlos has made a huge impact in the short time he has been with us.”

The 30-year-old, signed from PSV Eindhoven in August, is likely to be out for at least another fortnight, having missed the Chelsea and Newcastle games.

Michael Essien’s first-half header for Chelsea was the difference between the sides at Stamford Bridge, while Moussa Dembele was the width of a St James’s Park crossbar from ending Fulham’s 15-month away win drought.

Fulham have drawn eight of their 14 EPL games, one ahead of Sunderland and Manchester United on seven.

Fulham are reportedly interested in 26-year-old Cameroon international keeper Carlos Kameni, currently with La Liga surprise high-flyers Espanyol of Barcelona.

The 26-year-old is valued at £5.1m, however, which is likely to be double what Fulham might receive for Marc Schwarzer, if Arsenal were to take up their long-term interest in the Australian international.

Fulham entertain big-spending Manchester City in the EPL this Sunday afternoon.
