Fulham v BlackburnFulham are now looking behind rather than ahead as they slip dangerously close to a relegation fight. This match was surely a must win match for both teams but ended in a draw. Blackburn really needed this win to challenge for Europe. Fulham had an excellent start, in the 10th minute with Montella’s goal. The goal came from a Simon Davies's outswinging corner which was headed down by Papa Bouba Diop, Montella thrashed at the ball and it deflected off the striker's knee and over the top of David Dunn's head. The equalizer came though in the 61st minute with a goal from Benni McCarthy, with Pedersen and Stephen Warnock combining well down the left with McCarthy firing home. Both teams fought for the winner at the end but it didn’t come Man of the Match Benni McCarthy. This result means that Fulham slip closer towards the relegation zone. They are 3 points ahead of Charlton with difficult fixtures ahead. Fulham need to up their standards if they are to survive slipping into the drop zone in the closing games of the English Premier League season. Equally Blackburn will be disappointed with the result. It means they are now 7 points behind Reading and whilst they have a game in hand it’s a tall order to claw back. Tags: English Premier League, Fulham, Blackburn, Charlton Posted: |
