French Ligue 1 Update Feb 2011![]() Five clubs remain with four points of the top of French Ligue 1 following the weekend’s results. Fifth-placed Lyon took a point from leaders Lille whilst the other three protagonists all won. At the bottom, Arles continue to look all but mathematically doomed despite taking a point at home to Brest.
Lille took an early lead at home to Lyon thanks to Sow but Kallstrom levelled things up after 26 minutes. Despite chances for both sides, no-one else found the net and Lyon were left to rue what was a chance to throw themselves right into the title race. Rennes pulled level on points with Lille after a comfortable home win over lowly Lens. Goals from Boukhari and Montano separated by half time were enough for the home side to ensure they trail Lille by only goal difference.
Marseille came from behind at Nancy and were thankful to an Ayew strike just on half time to take them in level after Feret’s opener. Ayew struck again three minutes from time to bring his side to within a point of the lead. PSG also won 2-1 but hung on after Tabanou scored to bring Toulouse back into the game after an Adrian Gunino own goals had doubled the hosts lead given to them by Armand. Montpellier fell back after being unable to break down a resolute Sochaux defence in a goalless draw.
Ghilas gave bottom-club Arles a first half lead but Toure equalised for Brest just after half time and they shared the points. Monaco built a 2-0 lead at home to Caen thanks to Park Chu-Young but El Arabi and Mollo scored in quick succession to claim a point. Auxerre remain in the danger zone after losing 3-0 at Bordeaux, Diarra, Modeste and Plasil doing the damage.
