French Ligue 1 November 2010Surprise leaders Brest maintained top position in Ligue 1 despite dropping points in a 1-1 draw at home to mid-table Sochaux. They had to come from behind after Brown gave the visitors a 22nd minute lead but a Nolan Roux strike shortly before half time was all they could muster.
Lille and Montpellier kept up the pressure as both Paris SG and Rennes slipped up. A hat-trick from Sow was the highlight of Lille’s 5-2 away win at Caen whilst a single Giroud goal was sufficient for Montpellier to see off Toulouse, a relief after a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Lens the previous week. PSG needed a last minute Nene goal to salvage a point at Lorient but Rennes couldn’t hold onto a point at Auxerre with Quercia grabbing a late winner for the home side.
Arles remain firmly rooted to the bottom despite earning a hard fought point in a goal-less draw at Monaco. Lens moved above Nancy with a 1-1 draw at Marseille as the latter went down 2-1 at Bordeaux.
Nice’s 22-year old Colombian goalkeeper has landed a blow to the club by announcing that he would relish the opportunity to play for PSG. Solid performances during his two-year stint in France have raised his profile and reports indicate there are parties in France and elsewhere interested in securing his services.
