Ferguson Finally Ends Berbatov Saga

Bulgarian international striker Dimitar Berbatov has finally completed his long drawn out transfer to Premier League Champions Manchester United for a reported fee of £30.75 Million. As part of the deal United have allowed promising youngster Fraizer Campbell to join the London club on a season long loan deal.

The transfer represents the end of a saga that has dragged on throughout the whole of the summer transfer window. At one point relations between the two clubs deteriorated to the extent that the Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was prepared to provide over twelve months worth of evidence to suggest that United had not behaved properly in their conduct. As a part of the deal, Tottenham have agreed to drop any further action.

The drama also continued on deadline day when newly rich neighbours Manchester City attempted to usurp United pursuit of the 27 year old. However, the player’s desire to joined the Champions was stronger than the lure of a better contract.

Following the announcement of the player’s signing, Ferguson told the club’s official website “This is a key signing. Dimitar is one of the best and most exciting strikers in world football. His style and ability will give the team a different dimension and I'm sure he will be a popular player with the fans."

Berbatov himself said, “Joining United is a dream come true. I look forward to playing my part in helping this club win more honours.”

The Bulgarian leaves Tottenham having played 70 times and scoring 27 goals.
