Faroe Islands v Scotland
Faroe Islands failed yet again to open their account in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign as they lost to Italy 1-2 on Saturday. However Rógvi Jacobsen scored a fine goal in the late stages to give a scare to the World Cup winners although they never really looked in trouble.
Faroe Islands coach Jógvan Martin Olsen must have been disappointed with his team's showing although he will take heart from the fact that they managed to run the Italians close in the latter stages of the game. Jón Rói Jacobsen and Súni Olsen have recovered from their injuries and are raring to go, while the coach has also included midfielder Hjalgrím Elttør.
Olsen said he was pleased with Elttør's form since his transfer to NSÍ Runavík. Olsen added that the midfielder had earned a recall through his hard work although he was not in evidence against Italy last Saturday. Defender Fródi Benjaminsen was suspended for the Italy game and could return for the match against Scotland.
Scotland are in fine form this season as evidenced by their 1-0 win against Euro 2008 co-hosts Austria in a friendly game. Scotland coach Alex McLeish has called up Allan Hutton and Charlie Adam as well as defender Jay McEveley for the Faroe Islands match, which should be an easy game for the Scotland team.
Darren Fletcher and Everton FC striker James McFadden also return to the team. The pair missed the matches against Georgia and Italy through injury and suspension respectively and their absence was acutely felt by Scotland.
Scotland are fourth in Group B with 12 points from six matches, while Faroe Islands are struggling at the bottom with no points from seven games. Scotland are tied on points with Ukraine and are just one point behind Italy. Faroe Islands v Scotland kicks off at 17:15. Tune in to watch live international football online.
