Filippo Inzaghi's form in the Champions League final has caught the eye of Italy coach Roberto Donadoni, who has recalled the 33-year old back into the team for Euro 2008 qualifying matches against Faroe Islands and Lithuania.

Inzaghi, who scored twice in Milan's win over Liverpool, has not played for the Azzurri since Italy's 2-0 victory over Ukraine on October 7 last year. Italy has named a near-full strength team, with the only absentees being Francesco Totti, who has asked for an international break, and striker Luca Toni who is out injured.

Donadoni is also impressed by the form of Cristiano Lucarelli and Tommaso Rocchi, who have scored 20 and 16 Serie A goals respectively, and has named the strikers in the 23-man squad. Meanwhile defender Alessandro Nesta's Italy career might be over after he asked to be excused from the team in order to get married.

"I hope it was just an off-the-cuff remark or at least I am trying to be optimistic as it seemed his choice was definite", Donadoni said. Italy is currently in fourth position in the table with 10 points from 5 games, but can find itself in second position if they win their two matches this week.

Faroe Islands' Euro dream is all but over, with the team losing all their six matches played, scoring a single goal. Midfielder Hjalgrím Elttør has been included in the squad to face Italy and Scotland. Coach Jógvan Martin Olsen said that he was happy by the form shown by Elttør following his move to NSÍ Runavík.

"Hjalgrím didn't play well last season. We told him the change to NSÍ wouldn't automatically earn him a recall. He was told to prove he could raise his game and I'm happy to see he has done just that", Olsen said. Jón Rói Jacobsen and Súni Olsen have bounced back from their injuries and are included in the squad, while Fródi Benjaminsen misses the game through suspension.
