Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas added to Arsene Wenger’s woe’s as he came off second best in a tackle with Xabi Alonso and injured his medial ligament. Fortunately for the Spanish playmaker, the injury is not thought as serious as it could have been and the lay-off will probably be anything from a week to a month.

 

The 1-1 draw was probably more welcome to the visitors than the home team especially as playing against 10 men for a lot of the second half proved tougher than Rafa Benitez’s men may have thought. Yet the loss of the influential Fabregas may be of greater concern to the Gunners than the dropping of 2 home points or the up and coming ban for Emmanuel Adebayor.
