Fabregas Fit For Spanish Bid

Cesc Fabregas has overcome an injury scare to be declared fit for Spain’s World Cup semi-final clash with Germany.

The Arsenal skipper, heavily linked with a move to Barcelona over the summer, limped out of training on Monday but will be available for selection as the Spanish aim to make history by reaching the World Cup final for the first time.

Boss Vicente del Bosque must decide whether to keep faith with underperforming Fernando Torres, although he could start with the Liverpool striker on the bench with Fabregas taking his place.

Torres has yet to score in South Africa, although Spain have won every game since their opening defeat to Switzerland to progress to the last four.

The winners of the semi-final, to be held in Durban, face Holland in the final in Soccer City on Sunday.
