FA Extend Mascherano Appeal

Javier Mascherano

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano will be given an added 24 hours by the FA to appeal against the charge of improper conduct given to him following an incident against Manchester United at the weekend.

The FA have allowed Mascherano until 6pm on Friday afternoon to appeal against the improper conduct charge. Mascherano has being given the extension as he has being away on international duty with Argentina.

Mascherano was given a red card when he questioned the referee’s decision to show team mate Fernando Torres a yellow card during the clash with Manchester United at the weekend.

At the minute the Argentine has been given a one match ban but this could be extended to two should he be found guilty of improper conduct.

Mascherano will now miss the Merseyside derby clash with Everton on Sunday and if he is found guilty will miss the games with Arsenal a week later and Blackburn later in April.
