After suffering racist abuse throughout his career, including his time in Spain and currently in Italy, Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o has expressed his hope that the first ever African World Cup will go a long way to eradicating a blight on the game.

 

The Inter Milan player said “It has never been easy and until the end of my career it won’t be easy. Maybe this World Cup, being the first in Africa, can change attitudes.”

The 29 year-old has often given his hecklers a response after scoring but will expect to be able to enjoy scoring on his home continent.
