Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson has issued the club that if they want to get into Europe then they must spend big money on quality players.

Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has already given Eriksson a big transfer budget last summer and there was money available for the Swede in January. It is expected that the Thai owner will give Eriksson a bumper budget this summer in a bid to see the club break into Europe.

Manchester City have been linked with top names, including the likes of Barcelona striker Thierry Henry and Brazilian striker Adriano, and Sven Goran Eriksson thinks that these are the types of players City need to bring in, if they are to reach their European dream.

Eriksson said that his current squad probably aren’t good enough to play in Europe and that it would need strengthening to compete in major tournaments. He added that in order to get these quality players he will need some serious money from the club’s owners.
