Boiling Point For England

FIFA have launched an investigation after an irate England fan managed to breach stadium security in Cape Town and forced his way into the dressing room to vent his frustration at the team’s dire performance against Algeria.

Meanwhile, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who has failed to shine in either of England’s matches, landed himself in potential hot water after criticising fans who booed the team off the pitch. He looked directly into a camera and was heard to say “Good to hear your own fans booing you” as he trudged to the dressing room. Clearly looking out of sorts, Rooney received backing from team-mate Gareth Barry who said “We know we need Wayne. Wayne, at any time, can produce something magic.”

Barry also commented on the disappointing performance saying “We have to be confident. We spoke about it in the dressing room. We’re going to stick together in the next few days. We play a very good team, so we have to put things right.”

Fabio Capello once again kept his cards close to his chest until the latest moment and when his team selection was announced, David James was preferred to Robert Green whose World Cup can be presumed to be over following his error against the USA.
