England Stay PositiveEngland midfielder Frank Lampard has reflected on his team’s poor start to South Africa 2010 saying that not a single England player has shown their true form so far. The Chelsea star said “So far, we’ve played in fits and starts. But, personally, I don’t think any player in the squad can say that they have played to expectations and be really that honest about it.” He added “You’re only as good as your last game, but the most important game is always your next game.” The England squad have made all the right noises ahead of their crucial World Cup match with Slovenia. Coach Fabio Capello refused to be drawn any further on the John Terry affair but did say that he had not considered the former England captain. Capello did admit that he may have made some mistakes in respect of his team selection. He said “Sometimes we make mistakes, but we win. It is possible I made some mistakes. But I don’t know if we would have won if I have made changes to the side.” Wayne Rooney also received the backing of his international boss with the Italian saying “He (Rooney) is an important player for us, he is one of the best players in the world.” Tags: England, Frank Lampard, World Cup, Fabio Capello, John Terry, Wayne Rooney Posted: |
