England Look To Settle Squad

Former England captain John Terry has spoken out to deny that any rift exists between the players and head coach Fabio Capello.

A day after Wayne Rooney was forced to apologise for comments made about those fans who, in some people’s eyes, rightly booed the players from the pitch following their -0- draw with Algeria, rumours of unrest in the camp continued. However, the Chelsea defender said

“I am here on behalf of the players and we are fully behind the manager. Since the manager has come in he has had his ways and his philosophies and his ideas, and that has worked in the campaign, so nothing should change from there.”

A behind-closed-doors meeting was scheduled to aim to clear the air and address any issues within the camp ahead of the must-win game against Slovenia. Most mutterings surrounded Terry’s team-mate Joe Cole who many fans, and it is rumoured players, are puzzled at his exclusion so far from the playing surface. Terry himself said “I think that he (Cole) and Wayne (Rooney) are the only two players in the side that can really open up things and the key to breaking down defences. If he is called upon, Joe will do a great job.”
