Emre agrees new toon deal

Newcastle United midfielder and Turkey international Emre has committed his future to the club under new manager Sam Allardyce. The 26 year old had been linked with a return home to Galatasaray or Fenerbahce but declared he was happy to remain in England.

Emre arrived on Tyneside in 2005 when Graeme Souness paid £4m to bring the player from Serie A giants Inter Milan. Sam Allardyce is the third manager Emre will work under since his arrival at the club – a sign of the recent struggles on Tyneside. Emre’s future was plunged into doubt during the last season of the English Premier League. Emre was charged by the Football Association with racial abuse following a match against Everton.

His future at Newcastle was plunged into doubt last season after he was charged by the Football Association with racial abuse following a stormy encounter at Everton. Although the charge was successfully appealed the future of the player was again thrown into doubt with the exit of Glenn Roeder. With so many exits and additions to the North East club it will be a welcome relief to fans and manager alike that Emre’s term at the club has been extended.
