Edman Out For Up To Six Weeks

Erik Edman

Wigan defender Erik Edman has been ruled out with a cruciate ligament injury to his left knee and will miss around six weeks of action.

The Swedish left back injured the left knee while playing for Wigan against Blackburn last week in the Premier League.

Wigan boss Steve Bruce conceded that it was a massive blow for the team and they will miss not having him in the side.

Steve Bruce also has a problem of who will cover Erik Edman at left back, and could use midfielder Kevin Kilbane in the role as he played their before for Wigan at the beginning of the season.

Edman was at Tottenham in 2004 when he joined them from Dutch side Heerenveen. He moved to Rennes from Spurs but signed for Wigan in January from the French club.

Bruce added that Edman is a great person, a true professional and hopefully will be back in action in no time. We as a club wish him all the best on the road to recovery.
