EPL Wage Bill At All Time High
Despite the gradual introduction of financial fair play rules by UEFA the wage bill for the Premier League has continued to rise. The bill for the 20 sides crossed £1.4bn and represents more than 2/3 of the total club revenue.
Roman Abramovich's Chelsea continue to top the league with annual spending of £174m, but more worrying were Man City spending £133m equating to 107% of their total revenue. The results of the annual review into EPL finances shows many of the teams would be disqualified from competing in the Europa and Champions League based on their accounts.
Out of 20 Premier League clubs only 4 recorded a profit in their latest accounts adding further concern about the effects of UEFA's recent initiatives.
