Dunga Will Be Irked By Defensive BlipOn paper a 2-1 win over North Korea doesn’t look to impressive but Brazil’s opener was a much tougher assignment than many had predicted - and they stuck to the task of breaking down stubborn opposition with diligence. We’ve seen how some of the other big nations have struggled to open up perceived outsiders in their groups and the longer a game of this nature stays goalless the more anxious things become. But Dunga’s side didn’t allow their frustration get the better of them.
Now they have got arguably their most awkward fixture out of the way, Brazil will be more content playing familiar opposition who will have no choice but to come out and attack.
With quality defenders like Lucio and Maicon, the South Americans have a defence to rival most in the tournament. But a bugbear from Brazil’s opening win was the sloppy goal they conceded late in the game. Although they had switched off by then, Dunga will be eager to eradicate this type of defensive mistakes before it gets out of hand against superior opposition.
