Luiz Felipe Scolari has received a welcome boost regarding his injured players with the news that Didier Drogba is only expected to miss a few weeks rather then a few month of the season.

The Ivory Coast international was taken off on a stretcher during Chelsea’s Champions League match against CFR Cluj after landing awkwardly. The signs were not good and there were initial fears that the 30 year old may need surgery.

However, Scolari has now revealed that a scan on Drogba’s right leg has shown no significant ligament injury.

Chelsea currently have a long list of absentees. Ashley Cole has injured his back and did not feature in the Champions League game. Joe Cole, Deco and Ricardo Carvalho are definitely unavailable until after the international break. In addition, captain John Terry and Alex are also thought to be carrying knocks at the moment.
