Donovan in return to Europe with Bayern Munich?

Bayern Munich are lining up a possible move for US star Landon Donovan, after the club’s official website revealed that the striker would be training with the Bundesliga champions for a 10-day period.

The LA Galaxy star has been training with Bayern Munich since Tuesday, coincidentally the same day he was voted U.S. player of the year for a record fifth time.

Donovan told the club website: “It’s a great opportunity for me to see how the game’s played here, Every player here, from number 1 to number 22, is a better player. American teams only have one or two really good players.”

Despite LA expecting the US star to return, like fellow teammate David Beckham at AC Milan, Donovan went on to reiterate his desire to return to European football.

“I’d really like to play in Europe, I want to see how I get on, I was still young and not mature enough for Leverkusen. I wasn’t ready,” referring to his previous spell in Germany. “But I’m a different person and a different player now.”

"Landon I know from my time at the LA Galaxy," explained Munich boss Jurgen Klinsmann. "A fine guy, a very good footballer, and a great personality in American football. Landon is training with us for the next ten days to keep his his fitness in good standing."

“Landon knows Europe is where the action is in football, and he has all the attributes you need to succeed in Europe,” said Klinsmann.
